Background of Taiwan Transport Insurance Services Ltd.
In view of the importance of Taiwanese shipping market, we established our office in Taipei, with the aim of providing claim handling services for Taiwanese ship owners, NVOCC, terminals, and shipping agents. We render qualified services to global shipping & air freight industries. In the face of intense competition, we strive to provide localization services with high quality, while at the same time maintaining good communication with the insurers, such as UK P&I, TT Club, ITIC Club, UK Defence Club, and Ship Owner's P&I, and ensuring that the best interests of ship owners are protected.
Adelaide Yang, Managing Director of TTIS, has been working in this industry for over 30 years. TTIS Manager Laurel Hung who worked in a container shipping line before joining TTIS, has many years of experience in settlement of insurance claims and is good at negotiating with claimants on behalf of P&I. TTIS Manager Jean Hsu earned an LL.M. from the Indiana University and worked for local law firms many years. She specializes in marine claims and has an extensive network of contacts of marine lawyers. All personnel aim to ensure the rights and interests of the Members in the legal proceeding.
In addition to claim handling services, we also pay much attention to loss prevention. We continuously relay the loss prevention bulletins to the local shipping industry. Besides, we use the case study method to provide our Members with first hand materials to show how important the loss prevention is. We sincerely believe that the loss prevention is a key to risk management.
With respect to the recent amendments of Maritime Law and Ocean Anti-Pollution Act, we participated in the enacting proceeding / seminars. We relayed the message from the Authority and the industry to the liability insurers. Meanwhile, we actively discussed and exchanged opinion with the local industry. Moreover, we consulted with some scholars of Taiwanese Universities. We do our best to get involved in the local shipping market.
The shipping and air freight market is a fast growing industry with challenge. Around the world, the laws/ regulations may change unexpectedly and frequently. We are proud to be an information provider for the local market. We are based in Taiwan but look after global businesses.
